In views I wanted to expose a computed field but instead of textbox I wanted it to be a select drop down box with values coming from the database.

To achieve this I created a module and used the hook form_alter:

I was addresses module but using the values of country and city in views or search or any custom module is a headache because the module saves the country / city / providence values in initials.

To overcome this issue I created to cck computed fields save the country and city values in it respectively.

To get the value of the country and city use the below variables:

$country = $node->field_jobseeker_address[0]['country'];

$city = $node->field_jobseeker_address[0]['providence'];

where ‘field_jobseeker’ is my cck field type ‘address’.

I am developing a fancy website with an attractive design. I have used jquery easing effect to create page navigation sliding effect. Due to the high res background images the easing effect is not smooth but hindering like as if someone is pushing the slides.

There are two related content types and I wanted to find the total of one content type entries  applied against another.

Example.

I have two content types job and resumes. I need to display the total no of applications against ‘job’ as a field in my view.

According to me the best way to achieve this is through the module View Custom Field. Upload and enable the module.

Now go to your view add a field and select Customfield: PHP code.

Write the appropriate code to extract the total no of rows directly from the database. In my case it is the following:

To theme drupal forms using cck fields do the following:

Insert theme hook function in the template.php file: (dmcdubai is my theme name, replace it with yours)

 'arguments' => array('form' => NULL),
 'template' => 'node-profile-edit'
 ),
 'user_register' => array(

Create node-profile-edit.tpl.php file in your theme folder. Enter relevant fields in the order you need on the form

Go back to the code we had inserted in the template.php file. The profile_node_form and user_register are the ids of the form where the theming done in node-profile-edit.php will be applicable. So if you add user_register in the theming will also be applicable in the “Create New Account” scenario.

To find out the id of your form, view source and find name=”form_id” and use the value of that field.

Now I had created a Content type to add fields at the user registration form. And when I was trying to theme the form using the above solution I was not able to do so, the solution to that is the following:

In the template.php file user the form_id as user_register like this:
