IE 8 issues detect browser

June6

IE 8 backward compatibility with IE 7 and browser detection issues.

Our browser detection problems appears to be solved for now but I think there might be issues in the future. Need to know if I am worrying for no reason or there is something here.

Remember our yesterday’s issue with IE8 holding IE7 as developer’s tools. Apparently IE8 has a backward compatibility allowing websites build for IE7 to run like IE7 on IE8.
But these settings are user controllable
IE – ‘Tools’ – ‘Developer Tools’

Browser Mode
Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 8
Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility Mode

Document Mode
Quirks Mode
Internet Explorer 7 Standards
Internet Explorer 8 Standards

The problem arises when the ‘Document Mode’ is set to ‘Internet Explorer 8 Standards’ by the user. (I am assuming the chances of that are less)

If this issue seems important click here to read about it in detail.

Note: I assume the default setting of ‘document mode’ is ‘internet explorer 7 standards’.

If you can confirm download IE8 and check the website.
